Michelada (Mexican beer cocktail)
Method 1
Ingredients
1 tsp salt
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp black pepper
1 slice lime, plus juice of ½ lime
ice
3 shakes hot sauce
Mexican lager
STEP 1
Mix 1 tsp each salt, chilli powder and black pepper on a plate. Wipe the rim of the glass with a slice of lime and roll in the spice mix. Add ice, juice ½ lime and 3 shakes hot sauce, then top up with Mexican lager.
Method 2
To make a classic Michelada, you will need the following ingredients:
- Mexican beer (such as Tecate or Corona)
- Lime juice
- Worcestershire sauce
- Hot sauce (such as Tabasco)
- Tajin seasoning (or salt and chili powder)
- Ice
- Lime wedges for garnish
Here's a simple recipe to follow:
1. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a glass, then dip the rim into Tajin seasoning (or salt and chili powder).
2. Fill the glass with ice.
3. Add a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce.
4. Squeeze in the juice of half a lime.
5. Add a few dashes of hot sauce, adjust to taste.
6. Pour in the Mexican beer.
7. Give it a gentle stir.
8. Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim.
